Tata Tiago vs Altroz

Lately, Tata motor has outperformed its rivals by attaining record-breaking sales figures in India. Its cars are high in demand due to the remarkable price-value proposition. But that success has not come overnight. Tata has worked out every possible strategy to keep itself afloat amid sheer competition. Their decision to incorporate the best safety measures in their cars is now paying them a reward. Tata Tiago and Altroz are offerings that have made a positive buzz in the Indian market.

Reasons why Tata motor is Witnessing higher sales

Further, the company has managed to strike the right balance between price and value. As a result, the demands for their car are soaring despite the sheer competition offered by its rivals.

Another thing that keeps Tata Motors reaping more sales is customer awareness. Gone are the days when customers buy the car on account of visually appealing aesthetics, size, flashy interior, or fuel efficacy. Customers in the current time are more aware and hence consider other key parameters for a car purchase. This includes safety, body roll, traction, stability, braking, so on and so forth.

Maruti has remained a prime choice for Indian customers for a year and for simple reasons- first, they offer big packages at a low price, and second, they are good at highlighting characteristics that are popular among the masses. Surprisingly these things kept Maruti ahead of the competition for years despite their reluctance to outfit their cars with good safety.

Safety is not Maruti’s forte for the time being. But tata is doing a commendable job in this context. Their cars have set new safety benchmarks by securing good global N-cap ratings (a global standard for car safety). Having said that, let’s proceed and dig down the specs of two popular car models i.e. Tata Tiago and Tata Altroz.

Interestingly, both cars pack similar engines that render nearly identical power and efficacy. The points of difference exist on account of the following;

Aesthetic appeal

Tiago falls into a proper hatchback category, meanwhile, Altroz has a bigger footprint but it could be confused with a sedan at first glance. In fact, it is poised somewhere between a hatchback and a sedan.

Both cars look distinctive in the aesthetic department. Where Tiago seems a bit upmarket from a design standpoint, Altroz has a striking and sharp design, something that suits youth and millennials.

Overall Design and space

Since Tiago is a hatchback, it has a smaller wheelbase, breath, and length as compared to Altroz. Size-wise everything is higher for Altroz except the overall height which is marginally lesser than that of Tiago.

Altroz has an upper hand space-wise since it is a big car, unlike Tiago. The boot space is ample and offered plenty of room for luggage. Tiago also has respectable boot space despite being a hatchback.

Safety

Of course, safety is a big point of difference and hence should be taken seriously from the buyer’s standpoint. Tiago has a 4-star Global N-cap rating, whereas Altroz has managed to secure a 5-star Global N-cap rating. Both cars claimed to offer sufficient safety to drivers as well as occupants.

Bottomline

Both cars are priced under Rs 7 lakh, which is a plus point considering the value offered by them. The 1.2 L revotron, 3 cylinder petrol engine on these cars offer commendable ride quality, handling, and traction as per experts. The safety measures aren’t compromised either, which makes them a perfect buy under Rs 7 lakh.
